International Girls in ICT Day
There is always smaller number of female applicants in the IT department and they are slowly becoming rarity. In comparison to male employees there are only few female professionals. And since everything rare and special is worth celebrating, today is a day with no exceptions - it belongs to IT women, to programmers, to all women who are dedicated to digital technology and to everything IT related.
The International Telecommunications Union came up with initiative to appreciate women working in IT: „International Girls in ICT Day, an initiative backed by all ITU Member States in ITU Plenipotentiary Resolution 70 (Rev. Dubai, 2018), aims to encourage and empower girls and young women to consider studies and careers in the growing field of ICTs, enabling both girls and technology companies to receive the benefits of greater female participation in the ICT sector.“
The number of women in information technology differs from country to country - but the higher average values point to 20%. So, according to statistics, we can really assume that the situation is in favor of men, who are largely dominated in IT areas.
